Product Description
In 1985, the Greek government consented to buy forty Mirage 2000s: thirty-six single-seat and four two-seat airplanes. The aircraft arrived later than expected, between 1988 and 1989, and they were immediately allocated to the recently founded 331 "Theseus" and 332 "Geraki" (Hawk) Squadrons based at Tanagra AB. In 1999, new AM39 Exocet anti-ship missiles were issued to the squadrons. In 2000, the HAF requested fifteen of the newer Mirage 2000-5 Mk.2 airplanes (ten new single-seat 2000-5EG and five two-seat 2000-5BG)while simultaneously overhauling ten existing airplanes to 2000-5EG specifications.
