THE LIGHT OF FOOT
The Ashigaru (“light of foot” in Nihongo) were the backbone of 16th and early 17th century Japanese armies. Originally wandering mercenaries that came from peasant stock, they were organized into more formal units as the centuries passed. Over time they also gained in status although still existed below the Samurai class. In the later periods they accounted for between 60 and 80% of armies.
This hard plastic box set allows you to field up to 328 10mm soldiers equipped with yari (spear/pike), naginata (pole arm), yumi (longbow), and teppo (musket). You can see the mix of one, two, three, and five man strips on the back of the box with the variety of weapons. There are also 12 casualty figures included to use for scenic basing or as markers.
Models require assembly and painting. Bases are not included. Not for Children.
