Product Description
The Garford-Putilov heavy armored vehicle was designed and manufactured by the Putilov Factory in the Russian Empire, and was built on the Garford 5-ton 4x2 truck chassis imported from the United States. Its armament included one 1910 model 76.2mm gun, and one Maxim 7.62mm machine gun in the turret installed at the rear of the vehicle; there was also one Maxim machine gun each on the left and right sides of the vehicle. The driver's cab, machine gun room, and turret were covered with 6.5mm-thick armor, so the vehicle weighed approximately 8.6 tons; the 30-horsepower air-cooled 4-cylinder gasoline engine did not have enough power, so the maximum speed was approximately 20km/h. Its maneuverability was not high because the vehicle had a high center of gravity; however, it was valued by soldiers for its robustness and superior firepower. It was produced starting in 1915, and 48 were manufactured; they were deployed to the Imperial Russian Army during World War I. It was used by both the Red Army and the White Army during the Russian Civil War, and several captured units were used in Germany, Latvia, Poland and other countries until the early 1920s.
This new-mold model kit from Copper State Models consists of over 140 parts, including transparent parts, and comes with decals by Cartograf for 12 Russian military versions.
