Product Description
The German Panzerträgerwagen Tank Waggon was a specialized rail transport vehicle designed to carry a Panzerkampfwagen 38 (t) light tank. It was developed in response to the need for a mobile and rapid deployment platform for the Panzer 38 (t), which was one of the most important German tanks in the early years of World War II.
After good experiences with them in the broad-gauge armored trains, the standard BP 42 was equipped with two tank-carrier cars with removable Prage 38(t) tanks. The tub-shaped cars plus a folding armored shield protected the running gear. To remove the tank the pusher car ahead had to be uncoupled, an automatic Scharfenberg coupling was provided.
